Our first project with Bakehouse—the one that started it all. This was more than just a bakery; it was about creating a daily ritual for Hong Kong. We wanted a space that felt raw, real, and full of life. Industrial details, honest materials, and a big open window into the heart of the kitchen, letting the rhythm of sourdough, pastries, and people take centre stage. A space built for the city’s everyday rituals, anchored in craft and community.

The Challenge

Defining what Bakehouse should feel like. This was the first-ever location — the flagship that had to capture the soul of the brand. Shaping the experience. The challenge was finding the balance between raw and warm, industrial and inviting — a space that felt honest, human, and full of life. Every material, layout choice, and detail had to set the tone for what Bakehouse would stand for. And from there… every other venue became a lesson in tweaking and evolving that essence.

What We Loved

That soaring double-height dining space with its tall steel-framed window — it’s the heart of Bakehouse Wan Chai. The way natural light floods in, bouncing off the brick and timber, creates a raw, honest vibe that feels as handcrafted as the sourdough. A simple idea with a big impact: open up, invite the street in, and let the bakers do their thing.

Secret Detail

The open pastry counter wasn’t just practical; it became the theatre of Bakehouse. A daily performance of flour, fire, and hands in motion.
